smart board
For our in class assignment in EDU 364, we each constructed a SMART Notebook lesson on a subject of our choice. The requirements included a minimum of 8 slides with images and 4 interactive activities. I chose common nouns verses proper nouns for my elementary leveled lesson. SMART Notebook is an advanced tool that has a variety of options. The computer software allowed me to use pull tabs, lock things into place, drag images, create and edit interactive games, incorporate 3D images, etc. During my lesson my classmates were engaged and volunteered to come up without me even asking! After a classmate would come up to answer a question I would follow up there answer by asking them why they did that. All of my classmates did an excellent and thorough job during the lessons. Everything went smoothly and this is definitely a lesson I would like to incorporate into my class as a future educator! I believe that student’s learn better when they are collaborating with one another, and the SMART Notebook software allows this. Additionally, when students are interacting consistently throughout a lesson, rather than a simple lecture, they are more likely to be engaged and obtain the material. The ISTE Standard used for this assignment would be the Creative Communicator. I believe this standard is best fit for the lesson because each student was able to create and construct their own lesson using different software features that would best accommodate their lesson.
