QR CODE SCAVENGER HUNT
In EDU 364, the class constructed a QR code scavenger hunt based off of a specific Common Core NYS Standard and a topic of their interest. My QR scavenger hunt was meeting the 6th grade ELA standard on different sentence types, such as simple, compound, and complex sentences. My theme was traveling, so each question and picture provided related to that specific theme. The QR codes were created using an online generator. After, we used Microsoft Word to create interactive worksheets for the students to complete, as well as an answer key. During the hunt, student's must download a QR code scanner onto their phone. They simply place the scanner over the code and the questions pop up on the phone. The activity was extremely successful and engaging! The ISTE standard would be Creative Communicator and Knowledge Constructor. This is because my classmates and I were able to construct our own QR codes using a standard and theme of interest. After, we decorated them and put together a worksheet using digital tools to produce this activity. As a future educator, I think a QR code scavenger hunt would be beneficial during a review for a unit exam. Many students struggle to study or dislike it, so this form of review will reinforce the material and have the students interactively moving around the building.
